Specialised Treatment
ICS has a group of therapists who have specialised training in treating a wide range of psychological problems.

Trauma
Trauma can be produced by a wide range of diverse events such as childhood abuse or neglect, rape, road traffic accidents, domestic violence, muggings and wartime experiences.
Our trauma team is led by Lucia Hall, a traumatologist who also acts as a consultant on insurance cases. The team performs full trauma assessment using gold standard assessment tools. The treatment itself utilises evidence-based trauma processes including
·EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)
·Trauma Focused CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)
·Schema Therapy
·Prolonged Exposure Therapy
·Imagery Rescripting & Reprocessing Therapy
·Cognitive Processing Therapy
·Lifespan Integration Therapy
·Parks Imagery-Rescripting Cognitive Therapy (PICT)
·Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) & KIDNET (for children)

The type of process used is based on the type of trauma, the time-frame involved as well as the length of the trauma, what the assessment reveals and, most importantly, what the client wants to achieve.

Depression
Depression is becoming an epidemic in the modern world, so much so that it is often considered to be the “common cold” of psychological illness.
The right therapy, however, can be very successful at alleviating the symptoms of depression. In order to get the right therapy ICS assesses the type of depression the client is experiencing and the severity of it (episodic, major disorder, or chronic and mild, moderate or severe).
Some of our helpful treatments for depression include:

·CBT
·Behavioural Activation (BA)
·Schema Therapy
·Cognitive Behavioural Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP)
·HeartMath techniques

At times these may need to be used in conjunction with medication, but medication is not usually needed in cases of mild to moderate depression.

Anxiety
The term anxiety can cover another huge range of conditions including:

©Panic attacks
©Phobias
©OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder)
©Generalised anxiety

Some of our helpful treatments for anxiety include:

·CBT
·Solution Focused Brief Therapy
·Graduated exposure, imaginal exposure and prolonged exposure
·HeartMath techniques

Stress Management Coaching
Stress is the emotional and physical strain caused by our response to pressure from the outside world. Common stress reactions include tension, irritability, inability to concentrate, and a variety of physical symptoms that can include headaches and a rapid heartbeat.
It's almost impossible to live without some stress. And most of us wouldn't want to, because it gives life some spice and excitement. But if stress gets out of control, it may harm your health, your relationships, and your enjoyment of life.
Excessive stress is prevalent in the modern workplace and coaching can be very beneficial. Some of our coaching includes innovative HeartMath techniques, Core Communication, Conflict techniques, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) training and relaxation techniques.

Couples
ICS is unique in having written and delivered an accredited Diploma in Couples Therapy. Needless to say we have a passion for helping couples to improve the quality of their relationships.
At the heart of our couples approach is a combination of Solution Focused Therapy and the Research-Based Approach of John Gottman, the world’s leading researcher into couples. We have found that these approaches set the best possible foundation for effective work with couples, and tend to get couples talking to each other in a different and beneficial way.
In addition to these we add the leading Prepare/Enrich psychometric inventory and communication coaching, as well as utilising elements of CBT and other models to best meet the needs of the couple.

Alcohol & Substance Misuse
ICS have a couple of relapse prevention specialists and a number of others who have received training for alcohol and substance misuse. We have a number of unique techniques including the innovative FASTER Scale that helps people to identify the steps that typically precede a relapse. This enables the individual to notice the danger and to take corrective action and so avoid the relapse.
